One Difficult Part of Mathematics ( Functions - Educational Programme for Secondary Schools)

Abstract:

Po určité praxi na střední škole jsem se rozhodla zpracovat disertační práci na didaktické téma a využít přitom svých zkušeností s výukou a znalostí programování. Zjistila jsem jak praxí, tak průzkumy mezi žáky, že jednou z nejnáročnějších oblastí matematiky na střední škole jsou funkce. Zároveň jsou však důležitým předpokladem pro studium matematické analýzy, se kterou se většina absolventů středních škol v budoucnu setká. Cílem mé práce bylo proto vytvořit studijní materiál, „elektronickou učebnici“, která by vhodně doplňovala stávající učebnice tištěné a umožňovala využívat maximum výhod, které z počítačového zpracování plynou (interaktivní grafy, množství barevných obrázků, možnost postupného zobrazování textů, automatické generování příkladů apod.). Pracovala jsem ve vývojovém prostředí Turbo Delphi Explorer (v programovacím jazyce Object Pascal), obrázky jsem vytvářela v programu GIMP. Své předpoklady jsem si ověřovala pomocí internetových (resp. e-mailových) anket, které jsem prováděla mezi studenty Obchodní akademie a Vyšší odborné školy ekonomické Zlín, kde učím, a mezi učiteli různých škol. V průběhu vývoje jsem program poskytla učitelům naší školy a Gymnázia Zlín – Lesní čtvrť, tam jsem provedla i testy se žáky a závěrečné dotazníkové šetření mezi nimi. Výsledkem je výukový program obsahující teorii, sbírku příkladů a automaticky generovaný test znalostí, který by mohl být přínosem jak učitelům ve výuce, tak žákům při samostudiu.

Abstract:

After gaining some experience at a secondary school I decided to elaborate a dissertation on the didactical topic using my teaching experience and knowledge of programming. Due to my experience as well as the research among the students I found that one of the most challenging areas of mathematics at secondary school is „the functions“. But the functions are also an important prerequisite for the study of mathematical analysis which the majority of high school graduates will encounter in their future studies. The goal of my work was therefore to create a study material, „e-textbook“, that would appropriately supplement existing printed textbooks. This book should allow to use the benefits that come from using a computer as much as possible (interactive charts, lots of colored images, possibility of showing texts in sequence, automatic generation of examples, etc.). I worked in a development environment Turbo Delphi Explorer (the programming language Object Pascal), I created images using the GIMP. I verified my assumptions using the internet survey that I conducted among the students of Tomas Bata Business Academy and Higher Professional School of Business Zlin, where I teach, and among the teachers of other schools. During the programme development, I provided it to my colleagues and to the secondary school Gymnázium Zlín – Lesní čtvrť. At Gymnázium I finally carried out the testing of pupils as well as the final questionnaire survey. The outcome is an educational programme containing theory, a collection of exercises and an automatically generated knowledge test, which could be beneficial to both teachers and pupils in their self-study.
