Mapping beta diversity

Abstract:

Předložená práce se zabývá možnostmi mapování beta diverzity na příkladu dat o rozšíření cévnatých rostlin v České republice z Databáze české flóry a vegetace PLADIAS (2014–2018). Beta diverzita je zde pojata jako obměna druhů v prostoru. Prezentovány jsou následující metody mapování beta diverzity: 1) mapování průměrné obměny druhů, 2) vizualizace os ordinační analýzy a 3) vizualizace výsledků klasifikační analýzy. V rámci uvedených metod byly zvažovány různé varianty zahrnující např. aplikaci odlišných indexů nepodobnosti na různých taxonomických úrovních, různé klasifikační algoritmy a prostorová omezení. Na základě těchto metod byly vytvořeny mapy ukazující beta diverzitu cévnatých rostlin České republiky. Prostorová obměna druhů byla následně interpretována v kontextu environmentálních podmínek zahrnujících reliéf, klimatické faktory, horninové složení a strukturu krajiny. Dále je v této práci představen příklad nového fytogeografického členění České republiky, vytvořený na základě podobnosti společenstev cévnatých rostlin.

Abstract:

This study explores the possibilities of mapping beta diversity, which are presented using data of distribution of vascular plant species in the Czech Republic available from the Database of Czech Flora and Vegetation PLADIAS (2014–2018). Beta diversity is here understood as species turnover in space. Applied methods involve: 1) mapping average species turnover, 2) visualization of ordination axes, and 3) visualization of cluster analysis results. Various parameters were considered during application of each method. These include, for example application of different beta diversity measures at different taxonomical levels, classification algorithms and spatial constraints. Based on the above-mentioned approaches, maps showing beta diversity patterns in the Czech flora were created. Spatial patterns were interpreted with respect to environmental factors including topography, climate, bedrock types and landscape structure. An example of new phytogeographical division of the country based on similarity of plant assemblages is also provided.
