Urban Archaeology in Slovakia

Abstract:

Záměrem předkládané bakalářská práce je zpracování problematiky Městské archeologie na Slovensku a přispění do celkové diskuze o archeologii středověkých měst. V úvodu je věnována pozornost historickému kontextu zakládání měst ve slovenském prostoru. Rovněž popsání etap vývoje středověké archeologie je předmětem této práce. Práce se dále snaží nastínit strategii a metodologii uvedených výzkumů a jejich priority (sledovaná témata). Důležitými tématy jsou etapy vývoje archeologie měst, současný stav a perspektivy výzkumné činnosti, vývoj publikační činnosti a využití přírodovědných a nedestruktivních metod užívaných při archeologických výzkumech. Dále se pokusíme zabývat rozložením výzkumné činnosti a případnými územními a chronologickými odlišnostmi. Součástí práce je deskriptivní databáze vytvořená v databázovém programu MS Access.

Abstract:

The primary purpose of this thesis is the elaboration of the questions of Urban Archeology in Slovakia and the contribution to the universal discussion about archaeology of medieval cities. In the beginning, we keep focus on historical context of the foundings of mediaval cities in Slovakia. The description of phases of Medieval archaelogy is the part of this thesis as well. Further on, there is a tendency to outline the strategy and methodology of introduced researches and their priorities (tracked topics). The important themes are phases of Urban archaeology, present status and future perspectives of the research activities, phases of publication activities and the using of environmental methods which are used in archaeological explorations. There is also an effort to outline the layouts of research activities and their possible territorial or chronological differences. The paper is supported by a descriptive database created in MS Access.
