Political Economy of International Regimes

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá vlivem a důsledky existence mezinárodních režimů na systém mezinárodních vztahů a mezinárodní politickou ekonomii. První část práce se věnuje teoretickému vymezení koncepce mezinárodního režimu, jeho klasifikaci, rolím a teoretickým přístupům k jeho zkoumání. Druhá stěžejní část aplikuje teoretické poznatky na konkrétní režim mezinárodních obchodu ztělesněný Všeobecnou dohodou o clech a obchodu) a Světovou obchodní organizací. Vymezením jeho podstaty a funkcí je zkoumán jeho vliv na mezinárodní ekonomické vztahy se snahou dokázat tvrzení, že mezinárodní režim je relevantní proměnnou strukturující tyto vztahy. Práce dokazuje význam konceptu mezinárodních režimů pro zkoumání reality a na příkladu obchodního režimu GATT/WTO ukazuje, jak takový režim modifikuje mezinárodní anarchické prostředí.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with influence and implication of international regimes to the system of international relations and political economy. The first part of this work presents theoretical background and definitions of the conception of international regime, its classifications, roles and theoretical approaches to the study of regimes. The second one, pivotal part of the thesis, apply this theoretical knowledge to the particular regime of international trade embodied by the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and World Trade Organization. The text analyses its principles and functions in order to examine its impacts on international economic relations. Hence, the thesis tries to prove the relevance of regimes as variables that structure mentioned international economic relations. This analytical work demonstrates the significance of international regime concept for the study of international reality and shows trade regime as an example modifying international anarchic environment.
