Evaluation of the quality of contour lines computed on a digital model of relief

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je vytvořit program, který bude hodnotit kvalitu vrstevnic spočítaných na digitálním modelu reliéfu ve formě trojúhelníkové sítě a~současně poskytovat informace o vhodných postupech hodnocení. Text je rozdělen do pěti kapitol. Kapitola první nastiňuje danou problematiku a hlavní cíl práce. Ve druhé kapitole jsou vysvětleny důležité pojmy a teoreticky popsána možná kritéria, která lze využít k detekci artefaktů. Třetí kapitola je zaměřena na popis tříd a struktur, vizualizaci a implementaci kritérií. V další kapitole jsou uvedeny experimenty a jejich zhodnocení, ze kterých vyplývají spolehlivá kritéria. Závěrečná pátá kapitola shrnuje nejdůležitější učiněné poznatky a návrhy dalšího vylepšení.

Abstract:

The goal of this work is to create a program that will evaluate the quality of contour lines compouted on a digital model of relief in the form of a triangle mesh and at the same time provide an information about appropriate procedures of evaluation. The text is divided into five chapters. The first chapter outlines the main issues and the major goal of the work. The second chapter explaines the important terms and theoretically described possible criteria which can be used to detect the artifacts. The third chapter focuses on the description of classes and structures, visualization and implementation of criteria. The next chapter provides experiments and their evaluation, which represent the reliable criteria. The fifth and also the last chapter summarize the most important findings and suggestions for further improvements.
