Physical therapy approach to balance disorders in a patient with cerebellar lesion: case report

Abstract:

Cerebellar dysfunctions are determining factors in movement disorders with consequent instability, motor and sensory deficits. It is of fundamental importance to be aware that a rehabilitative treatment can create a positive transformation of the psychological state and mood of the patient, beyond the sensory and motor proprioceptive improvement. At the base of a good treatment there is always a positive mood, the optimism and the awareness of being treated or at least having hope. In this work the anatomy and physiology of the cerebellum, a fundamental organ in motor control, are analyzed in detail; Ataxia and its anatomopathological subdivisions; The interesting description and function of the Cognitive Therapeutic Exercise, methods and types of application. The fundamental physiotherapeutic work in cerebellar dysfunctions and ataxic deficits, with interesting scientific studies attached; And finally the detailed description of a clinical case with truly engaging results.

Abstract:

Le disfunzioni cerebellari sono fattori determinanti nei disordini del movimento con conseguente instabilit?, deficit motori e sensitivi. E' di fondamentale importanza essere consapevoli che un trattamento riabilitativo pu? creare oltre il miglioramento propriocettivo sensoriale e motorio, una trasformazione positiva dello stato psicologico e dell'umore del paziente. Alla base di un buon trattamento vi ? sempre uno stato d'animo positivo, l'ottimismo e la consapevolezza di essere curati o quantomeno averne la speranza. In questo lavoro vengono analizzati dettagliatamente l'anatomia e la fisiologia del cervelletto, organo fondamentale nel controllo motorio; L'Atassia e le sue suddivisioni anatomopatologiche; L'interessante descrizione e funzione dell'Esercizio Terapeutico Conoscitivo, metodi e tipologie di applicazione. Il fondamentale lavoro fisioterapico nelle disfunzioni cerebellari e deficit atassici, con annessi interessanti studi scientifici; Ed in fine la dettagliata descrizione di un caso clinico con risultati veramente coinvolgenti.
