Již od konce 18. století se čeští vzdělanci v duchu osvícenství snažili potlačovat pověrčivost rozšířenou mezi lidmi na venkově. S pověrou bojovali jednak vydáváním osvětových článků v tisku, jednak psaním protipověrečných knih a brožur. Abstract:
Since the end of the 18th century, Czech scholars, in the spirit of the Enlightenment, have been trying to suppress the superstition widespread among people in the countryside. They fought superstition both by publishing educational articles in the press and by writing anti-superstition books and pamphlets.
