V epileptologii se mimo klasického SPECT zobrazení využívá i subtrakce SPECT snímků získaných při aplikaci radiofarmaka v době záchvatu (tzv. iktální SPECT) a snímků získaných v době mezi záchvaty (tzv. interiktální SPECT). In the epileptology is used besides classic SPECT imaging also subtraction SPECT images gained during application of radiopharmaceutical in duration of seizure (ictal SPECT) and images gained in time without seizure activity (icterial SPECT).
