Environmental factors influencing the distribution and abundance of European beaver (Castor fiber) in Strážnická Morava

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem předložené práce je zhodnocení faktorů prostředí, které ovlivňují výběr habitatu pro teritoria bobra evropského (Castro fiber) a dále se zabývá jeho početností na území Strážnické Moravy a v jejím nejbližším okolí. Terénní sběr dat probíhal na jaře roku 2019. Spočíval ve vyhledávání pobytových znaků bobra a jejich lokalizace prostřednictvím GPS. Tato data se převedla do GIS prostředí a následně se vyhodnotila. Hlavním principem vyhodnocení byla metoda jádrového odhadu hustoty – Kernel Density Estimation, na jejím základě se lokalizovala jednotlivá teritoria. Dále se prostorově definovalo prostředí s hlavním důrazem na porosty, které si bobr vybírá. Bylo zjištěno, že v předmětném území se nachází 6 teritorií a další 2 leží v jeho těsné blízkosti, hustota populace je 2,69 teritorií/10 km toku, obsazenost vodních toků 54 %. Dále proběhlo hodnocení preference ohryzaných dřevin, kterým dominoval topol sp. (Populus sp.), dub sp. (Quercus sp.), jasan sp. (Fraxinus sp.) a vrba sp. (Salix sp.) Na základě výsledku jednostupňové analýzy rozptylu byl zjištěn významně větší podíl obsazených topolových porostů oproti neobsazeným.

Abstract:

The main topic of the thesis is the evaluation of environmental factors that influence the habitat choice for the territory of the European beaver (Castro fiber). The second main topic is abundance of European beaver (Castro fiber) in the territory of Strážnická Morava and its immediate surroundings. Data collection took place during spring of 2019. It consisted of searching for the beaver's residence marks and their localization via GPS. This data was transferred to the GIS environment and subsequently evaluated. The main principle of the evaluation was the method of core density estimation – Kernel Density Estimation, which localized individual territories. Furthermore, the spatial definition of the environment with the main emphasis on the stands that the beaver chose. It was found that there were 6 territories in the area and another 2 were in close proximity, the population density was 2.69 territories / 10 km of river flow, the environment was occupied by 54 %. The most prefered gnawing woody plants were Populus sp., Quercus sp., Fraxinus sp., Salix sp. Numbers of poplar stands were significantly higher among inhabited localities than among uninhabited localities.
