The contact with nature impact on children`s inner state and behaviour

Abstract:

Kontakt dětí s přírodou je aktuálním tématem už několik desítek let a zájem o něj i z výzkumného hlediska spíše roste. Přispěla k tomu i covidová situace, která ukázala, jak je čas venku potřebný, a zvláště ve školním prostředí otevřela otázku well-beingu nejen žáků ale i pedagogů. V kontextu popularizace tématu přibývá obav, že času, který děti tráví v přírodě, oproti minulosti významně ubývá, a naopak přibývá času, který děti tráví u obrazovek, což negativně ovlivňuje některé aspekty vývoje dětské osobnosti. Teoretická část práce mapuje historický vývoj vlivu kontaktu s přírodou na dítě a vymezuje základní teoretické koncepty kontaktu s přírodou. Stěžejní částí je ale rešerše dosavadních studií a jejich zhodnocení nejen z pohledu výsledných zjištění, ale především zvolené metodologie a statistické průkaznosti. Výzkum přináší hlubší vhled do problematiky obnovy pozornosti, emočního prožívání a prosociálního chování dítěte v závislosti na různých podmínkách prostředí a délce pobytu v kontextu českého prostředí. Cílem bylo zjistit, zda a jakým způsobem závisí prožívání dítěte na charakteru přírodního prostředí a množství času v něm stráveném.

Abstract:

Children's contact with nature has been a current topic for several decades and it is still growing. The covid situation showed how time outside is necessary and how important is well-being for students and for teachers. There is also growing concern that the time children spend in nature is significantly decreasing compared to the past. On the contrary, the time children spend in front of screens is increasing. Both can negatively affect some aspects of the personality development of children. The theoretical part of the work describes the historical development of the influence of contact with nature on the child and defines the basic theoretical concepts of contact with nature. The key part is the research of previous studies and their evaluation of the resulting findings and the chosen methodology and statistical evidence. The research brings a deeper insight into the issue of attention restoration, affective state and prosocial behavior of the child depending on different environmental conditions in the context of the Czech Republic. The goal was to find out whether and how the child's experience depends on the natural environment and the amount of time spent in it.
