The role of the station nurse in the emergency department and intensive care unit

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá rolí staniční sestry na oddělení urgentního příjmu a jednotceintenzivnípéčevčeskémzdravotnímsystému.Cílemprácebylopopsatdanou roli, identifikovat klíčové dovednosti a osobnostní vlastnosti a zjistit případné rozdíly mezi uvedenými pracovišti. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na vymezení role staniční sestry, její kompetence a specifika práce na urgentním příjmu a JIP. Výzkumná část je realizována formou kvalitativního šetření prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s vedoucími pracovníky. Výsledky ukazují, že role staniční sestry je komplexní, s důrazem na komunikační dovednosti, řízení týmu a psychickou odolnost. Zásadní rozdíly mezi pracovišti byly identifikovány především v charakteru a dynamice práce. Výstupy práce poukazují na význam této pozice pro zajištění oddělení a kvalitu poskytované péče.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the role of a station nurse in the emergency department and intensive care unit within the Czech healthcare system. The aim of the thesis was to describe this role, identify key skills and personal characteristics, and determine possible differences between the mentioned departments. The theoretical part defines the role of the station nurse, their competencies, and the specifics of work in the emergency department and intensive care unit. The research part is based on qualitative research conducted through semi-structured interviews with station nurse. The results indicate that the role of the station nurse is complex, with a strong emphasis on communication skills, team management, and psychologicalresilience.Significantdifferencesbetweendepartments were identified mainly in the nature and dynamics of work. The findings highlight the importance of this position for the effective functioning of the department and the quality of care provided.
