The Trial Volkssport

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá významným soudním procesem, který proběhl od 8. října do 24. září roku 1932 před Krajským trestním soudem v Brně se sedmi představiteli paralelních tělovýchovných organizací Německé nacionálně socialistické dělnické strany, a to Volkssportem, Jugendverbandem a Studentenbundem. Tento proces je především známý pod zkratkou "Proces Volkssport". Práce zachycuje nejen průběh samotného procesu před soudem v Brně, jenž je její stěžejní částí, nýbrž také jeho bezprostřední vliv na politické a právní prostředí první Československé republiky. Součástí práce je mimo jiné také vyšetřovací prolog, objasnění delegace soudu v Brně, ačkoliv se žaloba týkala především Čech a také nebývalý mediální ohlas, jenž překročil hranice tehdejší Československé republiky. V práci je nakonec obsažena úvaha, jak k takovému procesu přistupovat z hlediska širší historické paměti československých dějin.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s diploma thesis deals with an important trial with seven representatives of the parallel sporting organizations of the German National Socialist Labour Party, namely Volkssport, Jugendverband and Studentenbund, that took place from 8th August to 24th September 1932 before the Regional penal court in Brno. This trial is in particular known under the abbreviation "The Trial Volkssport". The thesis describes not only the progress of the trial itself, which is its crucial part, but also the immediate influence of the trial on the political and legal environment of the first Czechoslovak Republic. The next part of the thesis is the prologue of investigation, the clarification of the court’s delegation in Brno, even though the legal action concerned particularly Bohemia, and also the extraordinary media reaction that exceeded the borders of the then Czechoslovak Republic. In the end of the bachelor’s diploma thesis, there is a reflection essay on the way how to approach to such a trial from the point of view of the broader historical memory of the Czechoslovakian history.
