The role of indigenous authors in contemporary Brazilian literature: Tomorrow is not for sale and Ideas to postpone the end of the world by Ailton Krenak

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the role of indigenous Brazilian authors in contempo-rary literature and in Western society in general. The thesis concentrates primarily on mapping the themes that are most frequently found in the works of these authors. The first, theoretical part, deals with the origin and development of indigenous litera-ture in Brazil and the historical events that have influenced it. In addition, it examines indigenous culture and traditions associated with oral and written narrative. The main part is then dedicated to the author Ailton Krenak and the analysis of his two works. The analysis then focuses on the description of these works and on the interpretation of the author's opinions related to socio-political, ecological issues or issues related to Indigenous perspectives on the world.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá rolí domorodých brazilských autorů v současné literatuře a obecně v západní společnosti. Práce se soustředí především na zmapování témat, která se nejčastěji vyskytují v dílech těchto autorů. První, teoretická část, se zabývá vznikem a vývojem domorodé literatury v Brazílii a historickými událostmi, jež je ovlivnily. Mimo jiné zkoumá domorodou kulturu a tradice spojené s ústním i písemným narativem. Hlavní část je poté věnována autorovi Ailtonu Krenakovi a analýze jeho dvou děl. Analýza se soustředí na popis těchto děl a na interpretaci autorových názorů spojenými s otázkami socio-politickými, ekologickými či otázkami spojenými s domorodým viděním světa.
