Motherhood at a later age

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje mateřství v pozdějším věku, které se stává stále častějším v mnoha rozvinutých zemích. Cílem výzkumu je zjistit postoje žen k pozdnímu mateřství, jejich strategie jednání včetně reflexe rozdílů, které vnímají, když srovnávají mateřství v mladším a pozdějším věku. Práce je rozdělená na teoretickou a praktickou část. První kapitola teoretické části se zabývá mateřstvím z biologického a sociálního pohledu. Dále jsou popsány genderové role a rodičovství v postmoderní společnosti. Druhá kapitola je věnovaná životním dráhám žen, kde jsou blíže popsány důvody, načasovaní a rizika pozdního mateřství. Empirická část práce se opírá o kvalitativní výzkum, který jde cestou případových studií. V závěru práce jsou zodpovězené výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is devoted to motherhood at a later age which is increasingly common in many developed countries. The aim of the research is to find out women's attitudes towards late motherhood, their action strategies, including the reflective differences they perceive when comparing motherhood at a younger and later age. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the first chapter of the theoretical part, the thesis describes motherhood from a biological and social point of view. Gender roles and parenting in postmodern society are also described. The second chapter describes life paths of women with detailed reasons, timing and risks of late motherhood. The empirical part of the thesis is based on qualitative research that follows the path of case studies. At the end of the thesis, the research questions are answered.
