Influences of Polish Literary Folk Art on Oral Tradition in the Hlučín Region

Abstract:

The following thesis is aimed at investigating the possible influences of Polish literary folk art on the collection Unsere Hultschiner Heimat in Sagen und Märchen, Sitten und Gebräuchen written by Hermann Janosch, a native of Racibórz (today´s Poland). The thesis consists of four chapters: the aim of the first chapter is to present a brief outline of the history of the Hlučín Region starting from The War of the Austrian Succession, after which the Hlučín Region ? from 1816 belonging to Racibórz district ? was annexed to Prussia, up to the joining Czechoslovakia. The second chapter is devoted to the theory of oral literature, a special attention is paid to fairy tales, legends and their variety. The third chapter is focused on collectors of oral tradition from the Hlučín Region, namely those ones, who came from today´s Poland and Germany. The fourth chapter deals with an analysis of characters of Polish and Hlučín´s vodyanoy, chort, peasant, herder, thief and robber, daughter, son and bewitched noblewoman. The result of the analysis is a brief evaluation of compliances and differences between the Polish and Hlučín´s characters with the intention to determine if Janosch was influenced by Polish oral literature.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce má za cíl zkoumat možné vlivy polské lidové ústní slovesnosti na sbírku Unsere Hultschiner Heimat in Sagen und Märchen, Sitten und Gebräuchen sepsanou Hermannem Janoschem, rodákem z Ratiboře (dnešní Polsko). Diplomová práce se skládá celkem ze čtyř kapitol: Účelem první kapitoly je stručně představit historii Hlučínska počínaje Slezskými válkami, po kterých bylo Hlučínsko ? od roku 1816 spadající pod okres Ratiboř - připojeno k Prusku, až po připojení Hlučínska k Československu. Druhá kapitola se zabývá teorií ústní lidové slovesnosti, zvláštní pozornost je pak věnována pohádkám a pověstem a jejich druhům. Třetí kapitola je věnována sběratelům ústní lidové slovesnosti kolující na Hlučínsku, konkrétně těm, kteří pocházeli z dnešního Polska a Německa. Čtvrtá kapitola pak přináší analýzu postavy hlučínského a polského vodníka, čerta, sedláka, pastýře, zloděje a loupežníka, dcery, syna a zakleté urozené paní na základě předem určených kritérií. Výsledkem analýzy je pak stručné zhodnocení shod a rozdílů mezi polskými a hlučínskými postavami s cílem určit, zda byl Janosch polskou lidovou slovesností ovlivněn.
