Education and holocaust at a grammar school

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce „Výuka o holocaustu na základní škole“ je představení tématu jako důležité součásti vzdělávání mladých lidí. První část práce pojednává o holocaustu z historického hlediska, mapuje jeho dějiny od počátků antisemitismu po konec 2. světové války a vnik Izraele. Přibližuje několik pohledů na nacistické Německo a věnuje se popírání holocaustu. Zaměřuje se také na současný český extremismus. Druhá část práce se specifikuje na některá témata a zobrazuje jejich odraz v dětské literatuře, buď psané přímo dětmi, nebo založené na skutečných událostech. Třetí část práce je zaměřena na výuku o holocaustu včetně seznamu vybraných českých vzdělávacích institucí, které se jím zabývají. Výsledkem pak jsou konkrétní vyučovací hodiny zaměřené kromě holocaustu na lidská práva, diskriminaci a rasismus, které tematicky a obsahově vychází z prvních dvou částí práce.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis „Education and Holocaust at a grammar school“ is the presentation of this topic as an important part of the young people‘s education. The first part of the thesis focuses on Holocaust and its historic prospects, mapping its history from the beginning of the anti-Semitism to the end of the second world war and the establishment of Israel. It examines the different views on Nazi Germany and pursues the holocaust denial. The thesis also focuses on current czech extremism. The second part specifies particular topics and how they have been reflected in children’s literature no matter if writing by children themselves or that ones based on the real events. The third part is aiming at the Education in Holocaust including the list of the selected czech educational institutions dealing with this topic. As the results there are the specific lessons focusing not only the Holocaust but also human rights and discrimination and racism as well. The lessons come out from the the other parts of the thesis both thematically and regarding the content.
