Transformation of the Sugar Industry in Eastern Bohemia : History of Selected Sugar Factories

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce je proměna cukrovarnictví v oblasti východních Čech ilustrovaná historickým vývojem zdejších cukrovarů. Součástí práce je shrnutí historie cukrovarnictví obsahující nejdůležitější fakta o tomto průmyslovém odvětví. Cukrovary, které jsou v práci popsány, byly vybrány na základě své funkce v druhé polovině minulého století. Hlavní částí práce je popis historického vývoje těchto vybraných cukrovarů. Poslední kapitola se zabývá popisem cukrovarnických spolků, sdružení a společností, které v oblasti východních Čech fungovaly.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the transformation of the sugar industry in Eastern Bohemia. The transformation is illustrated on historical development of the local sugar mills. The introduction includes the most important facts about this industrial sector. The concrete sugar mills were chosen for the function which they represented in the mid of 20th century. The main part of the thesis includes description of the historical development of these sugar mills. The last chapter contains description of various sugar-mill companies, associations and communities which were important in Eastern Bohemia.
