Critical analysis of language and style of the regional newspaper Zlínský deník

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na analýzu jazyka a stylu regionálních novin Zlínský deník. Výchozím materiálem je 100 výtisků tohoto periodika, vydaných v období od 3. ledna 2009 do 30. dubna 2009. Práce zkoumá jak verbální, tak neverbální prostředky, které novináři ze zlínské redakce používají ke komunikaci se svými čtenáři na regionálních stranách Zlínského deníku. Analýze je podrobena slovní zásoba redaktorů a jazykové i metajazykové prostředky, které jsou charakteristické pro lokální periodikum. Pozornost je věnována též funkcím a formám titulků a úvodních odstavců komunikátů, neboť právě tyto části novinového textu se nejvíce podílejí na upoutání pozornosti čtenářů. Práce si všímá také grafické podoby novin, tzv. lay-out. Závěr tvoří obrazová příloha s ukázkami několika stran deníku.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of language and style of regional newspaper Zlínský deník. The base material is 100 issues of this newspaper, which were published between January 3rd and April 30th 2009. The thesis examines verbal and nonverbal mediums that Zlín journalists use for communication with their readers on regional pages of Zlínský deník. I analyse journalists´ lexicon as well as language and metalingual mediums that are characteristic for regional newspapers. Attention is paid to the functions and forms of headlines and leads, because these parts of newspaper text participate most in catching readers´ attention. The thesis also attends to the graphic form (lay-out) of this newspaper. To conclude there is an image appendix with examples of some pages from the newspaper.
