Solitude as the Main Theme of Selected Works of Gabriel García Márquez

Abstract:

The main goal of this bachelor´s thesis is to present the solitude as the main and the most important topic from the work of the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez. The another aim is to describe the period, when G.G.Márquez lived and when he created the well-known work of art. My next task is to point out the period of the magical realism and the developement of the author´s style and work in the second half of the 20th centrury and at the beginning of the 21st century. In the first part of my theoretical work, we will be talking about the author´s person. The next point is to show out his world-class glory and to show exactly the period, when he created his work. Last but not least, we have to mention the important events and people, who influenced him a lot. The second part of my theoretical work belongs to his work itself and to various authors and the literary critics, who were interested in Márquez´s work. The practical part of my work is focused on the analysis of 4 selected novels from Gabriel García Márquez, which represent the loneliness in almost all its content. In detail we will try to describe his work from the comprehensive view and we will try to mention the connections between the author´s life and his work itself. Finally, we will try to find the certain examples of the loneliness and solitude, which we analyse.

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je představení samoty jako hlavního a nejdůležitějšího tématu vybraných děl od kolumbijského spisovatele jménem Gabriel García Márquez. Dále je mým úkolem popsat období, ve kterém zmíněný autor žil a tvořil své úspěšné romány a zároveň zmínit vývoj jeho děl v období magického realismu v druhé polovině 20. a začátkem 21. století. V teoretické části se budeme nejprve věnovat samotné osobě kolumbijského autora, dále se zaměříme na jeho slávu světové úrovně, také na dobu, ve které tvořil, a nesmíme zapomenout na jisté vzory a události, které mu posloužily k napsání tak významných děl. Druhá polovina této teoretické části patří vývoji z hlediska jeho tvorby, zmíníme daná díla, která napsal během svého života a přiblížíme jistou kritiku od různých autorů nebo přímo literárních kritiků. Praktická část je zaměřena zejména na analýzu čtyř vybraných románů Gabriela García Márqueze, které reprezentují samotu v téměř celém svém obsahu. V detailním rozboru se zaměříme na dílo jako celek, dále navážeme spojitostí mezi životem autora a dílem jako takovým a na závěr najdeme konkrétní příklady samoty, které více specifikujeme.
