Descartes' argument continuous dream in Meditations on First Philosophy

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce popisuje a interpretuje argument souvislého snu v Meditacích o první filosofii Reného Descarta. Zadané téma je pojednáno v kontextu Descartovy metodické skepse a jeho celoživotního úsilí o hledání pravdivého poznání v přírodních vědách i ve filosofii. Druhá část práce se věnuje kritickým ohlasům na Descartův argument snu, a to od jeho současníků až po filosofy a vědce současné doby.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis describes and interprets René Descartes' continuous dream argument in his Meditations on First Philosophy. Assigned topic is discussed in context of Descartes' methodological skepticism and his lifelong efforts to search for true knowledge in natural sciences and in philosophy. Second part of this thesis deals with critical responses on Descartes' Dream argument from his contemporaries to current philosophers and scientists.
