Application outsourcing in the hotel industry and its impact on the economy of hotel and level of services

Abstract:

This dissertation consists of 3 main chapters. In the first, I will discuss the topic in theoretical terms, based mostly on the knowledge acquired during my studies at the university. In the second part, I focus on outsourcing in greater detail, its pros and cons and how these impact the standard of services offered by hotels. The final chapter contains a list of outputs based on the previous two sections of my thesis. The topic of my dissertation is the application of outsourcing in the hotel industry. The term itself describes a practice of hiring an external company to provide some of the services and related tasks. When used well, outsourcing can help reduce costs, or even increasing the standard of provided services or better coping with changes on the market. The hotel can then concentrate its efforts on the main business aspect of running such establishment. The aim of my dissertation is to provide a comprehensive and realistic view of the application of outsourcing practice in the hotel industry. With the assistance and information provided by the manager of the Carpe Diem hotel, which I am using as a real-life example, I am analysing and comparing the options outsourcing provides. Carpe Diem outsources accounting, IT, production of hotel's cosmetic line, environmental services or logistics (transport and reservations portals). The hotel was able to decrease their expenditures and at the same time also increase the number of stays, the quality of provided services and improved the overall image. The hotel's management can focus on other key parts of the business while having improved the reputation of their hotel.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa skladá z 3 základných kapitol. V prvej sa snažím priblížiť danú problematiku výkladom teórie, ktorú som čerpala najmä z poznatkov nadobudnutých štúdiom na vysokej škole. V druhej časti opisujem podrobnejšie outsourcing, jeho využitie na konkrétnom hotely, jeho výhody a nevýhody, dopad na ekonomiku hotela a jeho úroveň služieb. Tretia časť, teda časť návrhová obsahuje krátke a stručné závery mojej práce. Predmetom tejto bakalárskej práce je uplatňovanie outsourcingu v hotelierstve. Pojem Outsourcing znamená zaistenie služieb alebo činností externou špecializovanou firmou. Správne využitie outsourcingu by malo mať za následok zníženie nákladov, poprípade zvýšenie kvality služieb alebo rýchlejšie reakcie pri zmene na trhu. Hotel sa takto môže zamerať a sústrediť na hlavnú podnikateľskú činnosť. Cieľom mojej bakalárskej práce je čo najreálnejší pohľad na uplatňovanie outsourcingu v hotelierstve. Na vybranom hotely Carpe Diem s.r.o. za pomoci informácii poskytnutých manažérkou hotela skúmam a porovnávam možnosti využívania outsourcingu. Tento hotel si prenajíma outsourcing vedenia účtovníctva, outsourcing IT/IS, outsourcing výroby hotelovej kozmetiky, outsourcing v oblasti riadenia životného prostredia a logistický outsourcing (služby spojené s dopravou, rezervačné portály). Využitím týchto služieb si hotel nielen znížil náklady ale tak isto si zvýšil obsadenosť, kvalitu služieb, prispel k dobrému menu podniku a mohol sa naplno venovať kľúčovým funkciám podniku.
