Concept of Tragedy by Aristotle

Abstract:

Autorka se bude zabývat Aristotelovým pojetím tragédie. Nejprve vymezuje vznik a smysl tragédie a následně rozebírá Aristotelovu Poetiku, která je výchozím dílem práce. Soustřeďuje se na interpretace částí Poetiky Waltra Kaufmanna a S?rena Kierkegaarda, na nichž se bude snažit odhalit odlišnosti či naopak spojitosti. Práce rovněž obsahuje rozbor Sofoklovy Antigony, na němž studentka dokládá načerpané znalosti a opírá se taktéž o vědecké články zahraničních badatelů, aby obhájila pozici dané hry.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with Aristotle's concept of tragedy. At first, the autor of this thesis defines the origin and meaning of the tragedy and then she analyses Aristotle's Poetics, which is the main text for our interpretation. In the Catharsis chapter, she analyses Walter Kaufmann´s issues and in the chapter about the tragic she analyses the thought of S?ren Kierkegaard. Both authors are focused on interpretation of parts of Poetics and the student evaluates their theses at the end. The work also contains an analysis of Sophocles Antigone, in which the student demonstrated the acquired knowledge and she also uses scientific articles by foreign researchers to defend Antigone´s position.
