Capital structure of the joint stock companies in the agriculture of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je komplexní zhodnocení kapitálové struktury reprezentativního souboru zemědělských podniků (akciových společností) v České republice v období let 2015 – 2018. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části – teoretická východiska a aplikační část. Teoretická část se zabývá vymezením klíčových pojmů souvisejících s problematikou zdrojů financování zemědělských podniků, specifikuje hlavní determinanty a podmíněné teorie kapitálové struktury. Na základě dat z databáze Albertina je v aplikační části nejprve provedena analýza majetkově-kapitálové struktury, přičemž k uvedení výsledných hodnot do kontextu dochází k jejich porovnávání s tzv. zlatými pravidly financování. V další fázi je provedena analýza celkové zadluženosti, rentability aktiv a rentability vlastního kapitálu (pomocí pyramidového rozkladu modelu DuPont). Pomocí korelační analýzy je blíže zkoumána existence lineárních závislostí mezi zadlužeností a ukazateli rentability.

Abstract:

The aim of the diploma thesis is a comprehensive evaluation of the capital structure of a representative set of agricultural enterprises (joint stock companies) in the Czech Republic in the period 2015 - 2018. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical background and the application part. The theoretical part deals with the definition of key concepts related to the issue of sources of financing of agricultural enterprises, specifies the main determinants and conditional theories of capital structure. Based on the data from the Albertina database, an analysis of the property-capital structure is first performed in the application part, while the resulting values are put into context with their comparison with the so-called golden rules of financing. In the next phase, an analysis of the debt ratio, return on assets and return on equity is performed (using the pyramid decomposition of the DuPont model). With the help of correlation analysis, the existence of linear dependencies between the debt ratio and profitability indicators is examined in more detail.
