Czech alternative music of the 90s of 20th century

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce zachycuje celkový obraz alternativní hudby 90. let 20. Století. Tuto porevoluční dobu konfrontuje s předrevoluční undergroundovou a alternativní scénou a částečně sleduje její sociologický podtext. Práce vychází z odborných časopisů vydávaných v dané době a z literatury zabývající se alternativní scénou, především z knihy Alternativní kultura Josefa Alana a z knihy Alternativa od Mikoláše Chadimy. Jedná se o rozsáhlé téma, které nebylo dosud komplexně zpracováno, proto je cílem práce tuto část hudebních dějin co nejpřesněji zmapovat.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis captures the overall picture of alternative music of the 90s of 20th century. This post-revolutionary period is confronted with the prerevolutionary underground and alternative scene and partly monitors its sociological subtext. This thesis is based on music magazines that has been published in that period and on literature dealing with the alternative scene, mostly on the book Alternative culture by Josef Alan and the book Alternative by Mikoláš Chadima. This is a large theme, that has not been comprehensively elaborated yet, therefore is the goal of this thesis to map this part of music history as closely as possible.
