Analysis of financial literacy in the EU

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je analýza finanční gramotnosti v České republice v rámci Evropské unie s cílem zhodnotit současnou úroveň finanční gramotnosti. Úvodní část práce vymezuje problematiku finanční gramotnosti s důrazem na její historická a současná měření a poznatky vyplývající z těchto výzkumů. Práce je dále věnována konceptu finančního vzdělávání se zaměřením na vývoj v ČR a v OECD. Ve zkoumaných studiích vykazuje rozložení finanční gramotnosti tendence ve vývoji a vzorce, kterými jsou například přetrvávající genderová nevyrovnanost nebo rozložení v rámci věkových skupin. Náplní praktické části je empirická evidence dat pro ČR a následná statistická analýza dat ke zkoumání vztahů mezi úrovní finanční gramotnosti a sociodemografickými charakteristikami respondentů a zhodnocení významnosti jednotlivých vlivů. Z této analýzy vyplývá, že věk, pohlaví, nejvyšší dosažená úroveň vzdělání, výše příjmů, sebehodnocení testovaných nebo využití kryptoaktiv mají významný vliv na výši dosažených bodů z testu na finanční gramotnost.

Abstract:

The subject of the bachelor thesis is an analysis of financial literacy in the Czech republic within the European Union with the aim of evaluating the current level of financial literacy. An introduction part of the thesis defines the issue of financial literacy with an emphasis on its historical and current measuring and findings resulting form these researches. The work is devoted to the concept of financial education with a focus on development in the Czech Republic and in the OECD. In the studies reviewed, the distribution of financial literacy shows trends and patterns, such as persistent gender imbalance or distribution within age groups. The content of the practical part of the work is the empirical record of data for the Czech Republic and a subsequent statistical analysis of the data to investigate the relationship between the level of financial literacy and the socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents and the evaluation of the significance of individual influences. This analysis shows that age, gender, highest level of education attained, income level, self-assessment of respondents, or use of crypto-assets have a significant effect on the amount of points achieved in the financial literacy test.
