The principle of eros in the topos of vampire fin de siècle

Abstract:

Magisterská práce se zaměřuje na problematiku přesahu upírského mýtu do umění v rámci 19. století. V této souvislosti nahlíží proměny toposu upíra v literární a výtvarné sféře. Největší důraz klade na umění dekadence, jež se pokouší zmapovat, neboť právě v jeho intencích získala postava upíra několik rozličných podob. Ty se ostatně prostřednictvím ikonografické a hermeneutické metody snaží interpretovat. Dále nabízí několik výkladů zásadních děl s upírskou tématikou, z nichž je primární psychologické interpretace skrze níž poukazuje na hlubší význam upírského toposu právě ve sféře umění. K tomu jí dopomáhá princip erótu, jenž je definován jako princip vztahu k nevědomí, k iracionalitě, k ženství. Tento princip je pak ukotven na Jungově teorii archetypů, z jejíž pozic se pokouší o výklad archetypických postav a obrazů, jež v dílech nachází. Práce se také věnuje úloze archetypu v umění fin de siècle. Ten nalézá zosobněn v postavě femme fatale, jejíž vzkříšení v dekadentním umění iniciovala bezútěšná situace stran tabuizované sexuality. V tomto kontextu bere také zřetel na mužsko-ženské principy, které se zračí v upírských příbězích. Zde si všímá vymezení rolí mužů a žen v tehdejší společnosti. V samém závěru se práce věnuje zlomovému dílu upírského toposu, kterým je Stokerův Dracula. Nejenže přichází s řadou několika zajímavých výkladů, ale také shrnuje v čem tkví vklad tohoto románu pro upírskou literaturu. Práce je přínosná tím, že se snaží postihnout fenomén upírství v umění devatenáctého století.

Abstract:

My Master's work focuses on the vampire myth overlap in the art in the 19th century. In this context, the transformation looks topos vampire in literary and artistic spheres. The greatest emphasis on the art of decadence, which is trying to map, as it is in keeping with his character vampire got several different forms. These are indeed trying to interpret through iconography. It also offers several interpretations of major works with the vampire theme, which is the primary psychological interpretation through which points to the deeper meaning of topos vampire just in the realm of art. This had been helped by the principle of eros, which is defined as the principle of respect of the unconscious, the irrationality, to womanhood. This principle is then anchored to Jung's theory of archetypes, from its positions attempting to interpret archetypical characters and images that are in the works. The work also deals with the role of archetypes in the art of fin de siècle. He finds the personification of the femme fatale character, whose resurrection in decadent art party initiated the bleak situation taboo sexuality. In this context also takes into account the male-female principles, which is reflected in vampire stories. Here he notes the definition of the roles of men and women in that society. At the very end of the work is devoted to breaking part vampire topos, which is Stoker's Dracula. That not only comes with a range of several interesting interpretations, but also includes what lies deposit of novel for vampire literature. The work is rewarding that tries to capture the phenomenon of vampirism in the art of the nineteenth century.
