Analysis of the impact of E-commerce logistics services expansion in a selected area of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá a popisuje e-commerce s důrazem na logistiku poslední míle. Jedná se o modelový příklad fungování logistických procesů pro toto odvětví. Cílem práce je zhodnocení dopadu změn při plánování distribuce zboží e-commerce včetně expanze do rurálních oblastí na modelovém podniku. Analýza probíhala na základě předpokladů a prognóz fungování logistických procesů v tomto odvětví. S dvěma experty na dané odvětví byly provedeny hloubkové rozhovory o fungování logistických procesů v tomto odvětví na jejichž základě byly dodány předpokládané data pro simulaci. Za pomocí simulace na softwaru Kira, který pro účely diplomové práce poskytla společnost Solvertech bylo zjištěno, že zkrácení skladových procesů vede k snížení nákladů na rozvoz. Ve všech porovnávaných ukazatelích došlo k minimální úspoře nákladů o 2 %. Omezením práce bylo, že data se opírají o prognózy a předpoklady.

Abstract:

This thesis examines and describes e-commerce with a focus on last-mile logistics. It serves as a model example of the functioning of logistics processes in this industry. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the impact of changes in the planning of e-commerce goods distribution, including expansion into rural areas, in a model enterprise. The analysis was based on assumptions and forecasts of logistics processes in this industry. In-depth interviews were conducted with two experts in the field to provide estimated data for simulation. Using simulation software Kira, provided by Solvertech for the purpose of this thesis, it was found that shortening warehouse processes leads to a reduction in delivery costs. In all compared indicators, there was a minimal cost saving of 2 %. A limitation of the study was that the data relied on forecasts and assumptions.
