The Sandwich Generation from the Perspective of Social Politics of State, Society and Family

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou osob uvězněných v tzv. sendviči, osob středního věku, kteří se musí vyrovnávat s každodenní péčí o své potomky, stárnoucí rodiče a přitom stále ještě pracují. V úvodní části je sendvičová generace představena a také příčiny a dopady na jejich život. S jakými potížemi a dilematy se v této životní etapě musejí vyrovnávat. V další části práce je popsána sociální politika státu v této oblasti a formy sociální pomoci, které jsou k dispozici pečovatelům v sendvičové generaci při péči o dítě a seniory. V práci se také zabýváme tím, jak rodina a společnost nahlíží na tyto pečovatele a dále jsou popsány důvody, proč se rozhodují, tak jak se rozhodují v kontextu výchovy, morálky, solidarity a tradice. Praktická část práce popisuje kvalitativní výzkum, v kterém bylo využito polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Na základě poznatků o osobách vícegeneračních pečovatelů bylo realizováno výzkumné šetření, které se zabývá konkrétními dopady v osobním i pracovním životě pečujících, kteří se souběžně ocitají v roli zaměstnaného, pečujícího rodiče a pečujícího potomka a jeho vlivu těchto situací na jeho život. Ve výzkumu byly zjišťovány příčiny vzniku vícerolové funkce sendvičové generace. Analýza dat poté ukázala, jaké konkrétní dopady na osobní a pracovní život osob ve středním věku patřících do sendvičové generace způsobují faktory, které je ovlivňují v jejich životě.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of persons imprisoned in so-called sandwiches, middle-aged people, who have to cope with daily care of their offspring, aging parents and they still work. In the introductory part, the sandwich generation is introduced, as well as the causes and impacts on their lives. What difficulties and dilemmas have to cope in this life stage. The next part of the thesis describes the social policy of the state in this field and the forms of social assistance available to caregivers in the sandwich generation in the care of children and seniors. The thesis also work on how family and society look at these caregivers, and the reasons why they decide how they make decisions in the context of education, morality, solidarity and tradition are described. Practical part of the thesis describes qualitative research in which semi-structured interviews were used. On the basis of knowledge about the people of multigenerational carers, a research survey was carried out, which deals with the concrete impacts in the personal and working life of the caregivers who are simultaneously in the role of the employed, caring parent and caregiver and its influence on these situations on his life. In the research were investigated the causes of multi-ring function of the sandwich generation. The data analysis then revealed what specific effects on the personal and working life of middle-aged individuals in the sandwich generation that cause the factors, which affect them in their lives.
