Protein engineering of lectins - site directed mutagenesis of lectins from pathogens
Abstract:
Tato práce se zabývá proteinovým inženýrstvím lektinu CV-IIl z patogenního organismu Chromobacterium violaceum. Lektin CV-IIL je členem rodiny lektinů PA-IIL, tyto lektiny jsou považovány za důležité faktory bakteriální virulence, neboť se vážou na sacharidové struktury na povrchu buněk. Porozumění těchto interakcí může být užitečné pro antiadhezivní terapii.
Abstract:
This work was focused on protein engineering of lectin CV-IIL from the opportunistic human pathogen Chromobacterium violaceum. The CV-IIL lectin is a member of the PA-IIL family of lectins, and similarly to them, it is supposed to play an important role in the process of bacterial virulence by binding to specific saccharide moieties on the surface of the cells.
