Geographical distribution of English language around the recent world and Czechia

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je zmapovat geografické rozšíření anglického jazyka ve světě a v České republice. V práci bude použita metoda popisu a výzkumné sondy. V první části se práce zabývá historií vzniku a rozvoje anglického jazyka, druhá část je pak zaměřená na geografické rozšíření angličtiny ve světě. Část třetí popisuje rozšíření angličtiny v České republice a poslední část této práce tvoří vlastní výzkum v podobě dotazníku a odhady rozvoje anglického jazyka v Česku. Interpretace tohoto výzkumu ukazuje míru znalosti anglického jazyka u vybraných uživatelů, a přehled jejich názorů na úroveň angličtiny v Česku obecně, a v českém školství zvlášť. Výsledkem této bakalářské práce bude shrnutí příčin, které vedly k tomu, že se právě anglický jazyk stal celosvětovým jazykem a pokus o odhad jejího vývoje zejména v Česku.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to map the geographical distribution of english language around the recent world and Czechia. In the work will be used description method and a research probe. The first part deals with the history of the formation and development of the English language, the second part is focused on the geographical spread of English in the world. The third part describes the expansion of English in the Czech Republic and the last part of this work is the research.in the form of a questionnaire and estimates the development of the English language in the country. Interpretation of this research shows the level of English language proficiency for selected users, and outline their views on the level of English in the Czech Republic in general, and particularly in the Czech education. The result of this work will be a summary of the causes which led to the fact that the English language just became a worldwide language and attempt to estimate its development especially in the Czech Republic.
