Grotesque Charles Chaplin Like Social Critique

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Grotesky Charlese Chaplina jako sociální kritika“ se zabývá obdobím Chaplinovy tvorby během let 1915 – 1920. V této době začínal používat svou typizovanou postavu tuláka k vyjádření svých názorů a kritiky společnosti. Chaplinovy filmy z tohoto období jsou charakteristické svou jedinečností, vyznačující se již samostatnou tvůrčí činností, do kterých Chaplin dokázal promítnout sociální kritiku. Část práce je věnována jeho životu. Aby bylo možné pochopit autora samotného, bylo potřeba nastínit dobu, v níž vyrůstal, a také období, ve kterém tvořil své filmy. Ve své práci jsem se především zaměřila na poznatky, které vedly Chaplina k vytvoření tuláka jako vyděděnce lidské společnosti, čelícího nástrahám každodenního života. Cílem této práce je nástin role grotesky, jako sociální kritiky na společnost.

Abstract:

Bachelor's thesis "Charles Chaplin slapstick as Social Criticism" deals with the period of formation of Chaplin during the years 1915 to 1920. At this time he began to use standardized vagabond figure to put forward his views and criticism of society. Chaplin‘s films from this period are characterized by their unique and the independent creative activities in which he was able to reflect the social criticism. Part of the work is devoted to his life. In order to understand the author himself, it was necessary to outline the period in which he grew up, and also the period in which he created his films. In this thesis, I mainly focused on knowledge which led to the creation of Chaplin as a vagabond underprivileged human society, faced with the pitfalls of everyday life. The aim of this work is to outline the role of slapstick, as social criticism on the society.
