Theatre and politics - translation of politically motivated texts about the Czech-German theatre in Ostrava in the time of the Protectorate

Abstract:

The Presented master thesis is focusing on the translation of politically motivated texts about the Czech-German theatre in Ostrava in the time of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The practical part of the thesis contains a well-arranged introduction into the topic using available bibliography. In the empirical part of the thesis are presented the source texts, their transcripts and translations followed with commentary of translation issues and their solutions.

Abstract:

Die vorgelegte Diplomarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Übersetzung der politisch-motivierten Texte über deutsch-tschechisches Theater in Ostrava in der Zeit des Protektorats Böhmen und Mähren. Im theoretischen Teil befindet sich eine übersichtliche Einführung in die Problematik, die auf der Grundlage der zugänglichen Literatur verfasst wurde. Im praktischen Teil werden historische Ausgangstexte, ihre Umschriften und Übersetzungen präsentiert. Folgend werden ausgewählte Übersetzungsprobleme und ihre möglichen Lösungen im Rahmen eines Übersetzungskommentars besprochen.
