Abstract:

Práce testuje platnost teorie Gregory M. Luebberta o příčinách přechodů od demokracie k totalitarismu a autoritářství v meziválečné Evropě na případě Československa. Podle teorie byl výsledný typ politického režimu v zemích meziválečné Evropy důsledkem dlouhodobé spolupráce politických stran, jejichž voličská základna byla odrazem určité aliance společenských skupin. Pomocí hierarchického bayesovského modelu ekologické inference je určeno třídní, národnostní a konfesní složení elektorátu politických stran. Bylo zjištěno, že výsledky modelování odpovídají typu politického režimu, který Luebbertova teorie předpokládá pro případ Československa.

Abstract:

The thesis tests the validity of the theory of Gregory M. Luebbert about the causes of transitions from democracy to totalitarianism and authoritarianism in interwar Europe in the case of Czechoslovakia. According to the theory, the resulting type of political regime in the countries of the interwar Europe was the result of a long-term cooperation of political parties whose electoral base was a reflection of a specific alliance of social groups. A hierarchical Bayesian model of ecological inference was used to determine class, ethnic and confessional composition of the electorate political parties. Results of the models match the type of political regime assumed by the Luebbert’s theory in the case of Czechoslovakia.
