Linguistic Image of the World in the Self-narrations of Polish Migrants in Berlin

Abstract:

Praca nosi tytuł Językowy obraz świata w autonarracjach polskich emigrantów w Berlinie i poświęcona została zagadnieniom związanym ze sposobem postrzegania rzeczywistości widocznym w języku wybranej grupy badawczej. Na tekst rozprawy składają się trzy główne rozdziały: teoretyczny, metodologiczny oraz badawczy. Całość otwiera wstęp na temat motywacji do podjęcia badań w obranej tematyce oraz przegląd dotychczasowych prac naukowych związanych z Polakami żyjącymi poza granicami swojej ojczyzny, wieńczy natomiast prezentacja wniosków płynących z poczynionych badań oraz zakończenie - będące słowem podsumowującym autorki. Początek rozprawie daje rozdział teoretyczny poświęcony omówieniu najważniejszych zagadnień składowych tematu pracy. Przedstawione zostaje pojęcie emigracji w rozumieniu zarówno kulturowym, jak i językowym, a także zaprezentowany zostaje obraz polskiej diaspory w Niemczech i w samym Berlinie. W tej części znajdują się również rozważania poświęcone okołojęzykowym czynnikom kształtującym poczucie tożsamości oraz sposób postrzegania rzeczywistości. Finalnie omówiona zostaje także teoretyczna podstawa wykorzystanej w pracy metody pozyskiwania materiału badawczego oraz pojęcie językowego obrazu świata wraz ze jego poszczególnym częściami składowymi. Rozdział metodologiczny w dużym stopniu skupia się na prezentacji poszczególnych etapów prac związanych z gromadzeniem, weryfikacją oraz interpretacją materiału badawczego. Część rozważań tej części poświęcona jest prezentacji uczestników ostatecznie zakwalifikowanych do badań, a także omówieniu wyróżnionych przez autorkę kategorii grup badawczych. Na stronach rozdziału szczegółowo zostaje zaprezentowany przedmiot badań oraz sposób zastosowania metody badawczej w pracy nad zgromadzonym materiałem. Część badawcza pracy podzielona została na trzy krótsze podrozdziały. Pierwszy z nich skupia się na wyróżnieniu z autonarracji respondentów deklarowanych przez nich wartości, na podstawie których wyróżnione zostają pola tematyczne do analizy językowego obrazu świata. Drugi - przedstawia wyniki analizy zebranego materiału na temat językowego obrazu Polski, Niemiec oraz emigracji. Ostatnia część rozdziału badawczego poświęcona została przejawom poczucia tożsamości w języku. Każdorazowe rozważanie interpretacyjne przeprowadzone jest w ramach wyróżnionych wcześniej kategorii badawczych i zakończone krótkim podsumowaniem.

Abstract:

The thesis work is titled: The language image of the world visible in the auto-narratives of Polish emigrants in Berlin and is devoted to issues related to the perception of reality visible in the language of a selected research group. The dissertation consists of three main chapters: theoretical, methodological and analytical. The thesis is opened by an introduction with the author's motivation to undertake research in the chosen subject and by a review of the current scientific work related to Poles living outside their home country, and it is crowned by the presentation of the conclusions drawn from the research and by the ending - which is a short summary word from given by the author. The beginning of the dissertation is made by an extensive theoretical chapter devoted to the discussion on the most important issues linked to the main component of the topic of the thesis. Above all, the concept of emigration is presented in both cultural and linguistic terms, and the image of the Polish diaspora in Germany and in Berlin itself is briefly introduced. In this part of the work, there are also considerations focusing on non-linguistic factors shaping the sense of identity and the way of perceiving reality. Finally, the theoretical basis of the research method - autonarration - used in the work, as well as the concept of the linguistic image of the world together with its individual constituent parts, are also discussed. The methodological chapter focuses to a large extent on the presentation of individual stages of work related to the collection, verification and interpretation of research material. Some of the considerations of this part are devoted to the presentation of participants ultimately qualified for the research, as well as to the categories of research groups distinguished by the author. On the pages of this chapter, the object of research and the way of applying the research method in the final work are presented. The analytical part of the work is divided into three short sections. The first of these focuses on the distinction of values declared in respondents' auto-narrations, on the basis of which thematic fields for the analysis of the linguistic image of the world are highlighted. The second one - presents the results of the analysis of the collected material in terms of the linguistic image of Poland, Germany and emigration as such. The last part of the research chapter is devoted to manifestations of identity visible in the language. Each interpretation consideration is conducted within the previously distinguished research categories and is accompanied by a short summary.
