The Linguistic Picture of the Pole in Language of his Neighbors

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá pojmy jazykový obraz světa a kognitivní lingvistika. V teoretické části oba dva tyto termíny rozvádím a popisuji. Cílem této práce je posoudit co si myslí o Polácích jeho sousední země, mezi které patří Spolková republika Německo, Ukrajina, Ruská federace, Běloruská republika, Slovenská republika, Litevská republika a Česká republika. Základem práce je i vlastní výzkum, který je zaměřen na stereotypy o Polsku. V závěru posuzuji, jestli jsou stereotypy o Polácích stále aktuální nebo ne a jaký máme k nim vztah, zda pozitivní nebo negativní.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on concepts of worldview from point of language and cognitive linguistics. These concepts are analysed and described in the theoretical part. The main aim of the thesis is to assess what neighboring countries (such as Germany, Ukraine, Russian Federation, Belarus, Slovakia, Lithuania and The Czech Republic) think about the Poles. The core of thesis is based on survey which examines stereotypes about Poland. The epilogue evaluates whether stereotypes about Poles are still valid or not and if our relationship to them is positive or negative.
