Siblings of Children on the Autism Spectrum

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem sourozenců dětí s poruchou autistického spektra. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část popisuje vymezení poruch autistického spektra, problematické oblasti, klasifikaci, demografii a možnosti diagnostických metod. Dále se zabývá rodinami, které pečují o dítě s PAS, jsou uvedeny procesy vyrovnávání se s diagnózou dítěte, je popsána zátěž rodiny a speciální postupy, které rodinám napomáhají v obtížných situacích. Také zahrnuje sourozenecké vztahy, charakterizuje specifika sourozenectví dítěte s poruchou autistického spektra a popisuje možnosti podpory pro sourozence dětí s PAS. Výzkumným cílem práce je popsat autentickou zkušenost sourozenců dětí, kteří vyrůstají po boku bratra nebo sestry s postižením PAS. Odpovědi na výzkumné otázky předkládají zjištění, jaké jsou prožívané těžkosti sourozenců, jak sourozenci dětí s PAS vnímají čas a pozornost, kterou jim rodiče dávají a jaká jsou přání sourozenců dětí s PAS v souvislosti s prožíváním sourozenecké role. V rámci kvalitativního výzkumu byla data z rozhovorů analyzována formou zakotvené teorie.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of siblings of children with autism spectrum disorder. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part describes the definition of autism spectrum disorder, problematic areas, classification, demographics, and possibilities of diagnostic methods. It also addresses families caring for a child with ASD, outlining the processes of coping with the child's diagnosis, describing family stress, and special approaches to assist families in stressful situations. Additionally, it includes sibling relationships, characterizes the specifics of siblinghood of a child with ASD, and describes support options for siblings of children with ASD. The research objective of the thesis is to describe the authentic experience of siblings of children growing up alongside a sibling with ASD. The research questions are answered through findings on the difficulties experienced by siblings, how siblings of children with ASD perceive the time and attention given to them by parents, and the wishes of siblings of children with ASD regarding their sibling role. Qualitative research was conducted, and data from interviews were analyzed using grounded theory.
