Self-assesment at upper primary school during the lessons of the English Language

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce se věnuje problematice sebehodnocení žáků na druhém stupni základní školy. Teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na informace o hodnocení obecně a zabývá se zejména sebehodnocením. Tato část se dále zabývá definicí pojmu sebehodnocení, výhodami a přínosem sebehodnocení pro žáky. Praktická část prezentuje akční výzkum, jehož cílem bylo získat informace o tom, jaké zkušenosti mají žáci se sebehodnocením a následně toto sebehodnocení zavádět do výuky. Výzkum byl realizován v 9. ročníku vybrané základní školy v hodinách anglického jazyka. Struktura praktické části práce odpovídá fázím akčního výzkumu. Ve výzkumu byly použity tyto metody sběru dat: zúčastněné pozorování, dotazníky (před zahájením výzkumu a po ukončení výzkumu). V přípravné fázi jsem mapovala terén a připravovala se na zahájení výzkumu. Poté následovala fáze zahájení výzkumu, kde jsem postupně zaváděla formativní hodnocení pomocí popisného jazyka, čímž jsem žáky postupně vedla k jejich samotnému sebehodnocení. Další fází byla tvorba sebehodnotícího nástroje a jeho zavedení do praxe. Poslední fází bylo publikování a interpretace získaných dat.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with self-assessment of the pupils at the elementary school. The theoretical part focuses on information about assessment in general and it is mainly focuced on self-assessment. This section also deals with the definition of self-assessment and its advantages and benefits for the pupils. The practical part presents action research and its aim was to find out whether the pupils have experience with self-assessment and consequently to introduce this self-assessment in lessons. The research was conducted in the 9th grade of elementary school during the lessons of the English language. The structure of the practical part corresponds to the stages of the action research. In this research these methods of collecting data were used: observation, questionaires (before and after the research). In the preparatory stage, I mapped the terrain and was preparing for the research. This stage was followed by the stage of research, where I gradually introduced formative assessment using descriptive language, so I gradually led the pupils to their self-assessment. The next stage was to create a self-assessment tool and put it in place. The last stage was the publication and interpretation of the data.
