Motivation to study of working and non-working students of Faculty of Business Administration at University of Economics, Prague

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je zjištění motivů studentů na Fakultě podnikohospodářské Vysoké školy ekonomické v Praze (FPH VŠE) pro zahájení studia a pro pokračování v něm, zároveň práce zkoumá motivaci pro práci, hodnoty studentů, jimi vnímanou roli vyučujícího a školy a následně mapuje i další faktory, které působí na motivaci studenta. Tato práce je zaměřena na odlišnosti mezi pohledy a názory pracujících a nepracujících studentů. Praktická část byla provedena metodou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů a následně vyhodnocena metodou IPA. Výsledkem bylo zjištění, že pracující a nepracující studenti se od sebe výrazně neliší, co se týká motivace ke studiu. V čem jsou od sebe skupiny odlišné, jsou motivy pro práci, kdy skupina pracujících studentů uvádí především motiv finančního ohodnocení, zatímco skupina nepracujících studentů chce raději žít „studentský život“.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to find out the motives of students of Faculty of Business Administration at University of Economics, Prague for starting the study and for continuing in it. At the same time, the thesis explores the motivation for work, students' values, their perceived role of teacher and school and then maps other factors that influence student motivation. This work is focused on differences between views and opinions of working and non-working students. The practical part was done by the method of semi-structured interviews and subsequently evaluated according to the method IPA. The result was the finding that working and non-working students did not differ significantly from each other in terms of motivation to study. What makes the groups different from each other are the motives for work, when a group of working students mainly mentions a financial reward, while a group of non-working students wants to live "student life".
