Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá lexikální kohezí v paralelních českých a anglických článcích, které představují populárně naučný žánr. Klade si za cíl identifikovat funkci lexikální koheze v těchto textech, preferované prostředky lexikálních vzorců a jejich distribuci. Práce se taktéž snaží zjistit, do jaké míry jsou texty kohezní a jak lexikální koheze přispívá k jejich celkové koherenci. Studie je rozdělena do čtyř hlavních kapitol; první z nich pojednává o korpusu a charakterizuje populárně naučný diskurs. Druhá a třetí část uvádí výklad teoretického rámce, nastínění konceptu koheze a koherence a použité metodologie. Závěrečná kapitola sestává z výsledků a analýz českého a anglického článku, je zakončena srovnávací analýzou a shrnutím poznatků týkajících se problematiky lexikální koheze.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with lexical cohesion in parallel Czech and English articles representing the genre of popular science. It aims to identify the function of lexical cohesion in these texts, the preferred means of lexical patterns and their distribution. The thesis also attempts to determine to what extent the texts are cohesive and how lexical cohesion contributes to the overall coherence of texts. The study is divided into four main parts; the first describes the corpus and characterizes popular scientific discourse. The second and third parts offer a theoretical background outlining the concept of cohesion and coherence and the methodology applied. The final chapter comprises the results and analyses of the Czech and English articles concluded with a comparative analysis and a summary of findings regarding the issue of lexical cohesion.
