Duchennova svalová dystrofie je geneticky podmíněné progresivní svalové onemocnění, postihující v drtivé většině pouze chlapce. Nedostatek dystrofinu způsobuje nejenom poruchy hybnosti, ale také poruchy v oblasti chování, emocí, pozornosti i učení. Ovlivňuje ve většině případů i vývoj řeči a komunikační schopnosti. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is progressive genetically conditioned muscular disorder, affecting usually male children. Dystrophin insufficiency causes not only movement disorders, but also behavioral, emotional, attention and learning disorders.
