Fiscal and Monetary Policy in the European Union

Abstract:

ANNOTATION BLAŽEKOVÁ, Renáta: Fiscal and Monetary Policy in European Union. [bachelor thesis]. College of Banking Prague, Foreign University Banská Bystrica. Department of Finance, Accountings and Insurance. Head of thesis: Ing. Vladimír Šagát, PhD. Year: 2013. Number of pages: 53. This bachelor thesis deals with monetary and fiscal policies and their role in the functioning of the European Union. The first chapter focuses on fiscal and monetary policy in general, where are explained the basic concepts and principles of these complementary policies, through which it can meet the objectives as stable price level, and stimulate the level of real output. The second chapter analyses the use of fiscal and monetary instruments in the EU, Slovakia and the Czech Republic with the help of macroeconomic indicators, especially during a crisis (after 2008). The third chapter offers suggestions for reducing the budget deficit, respectively public debt and also to stabilize the growth of consumer prices. The objective of this work is to clarify the usage of monetary and fiscal policy in the EU environment and develop suggestions for making them more effective.

Katedra financií, účtovníctva a poisťovníctva. Vedúci práce: Ing. Vladimír Šagát, PhD. Rok obhajoby: 2013. Počet strán: 53. Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá problematikou fiškálnej a monetárnej politiky a ich úloh vo fungovaní Európskej únii. Prvá kapitola je zameraná na fiškálnu a monetárnu politiku vo všeobecnej rovine, kde sú vysvetlené základné pojmy a princípy fungovania týchto čiastkových politík, pomocou ktorých sa dajú napĺňať ciele ako stála cenová hladina, či stimulovať úroveň reálneho produktu. Druhá kapitola analyzuje využitie fiškálnych a monetárnych nástrojov v EÚ, SR a ČR za pomoci makroekonomických ukazovateľov najmä v období po vypuknutí krízy (po roku 2008). Tretia kapitola prináša návrhy pre zníženie deficitov štátnych rozpočtov, resp. zníženie verejného dlhu a tiež pre stabilizovanie rastu spotrebiteľských cien. Cieľom práce je objasniť fungovanie fiškálnej a monetárnej politiky v prostredí EÚ a vytvoriť návrhy pre ich zefektívnenie.
