Perception of the relict border on the example of northern part of Czech-Moravian provincial boundary

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vnímáním reliktní hranice na příkladu severní části česko-moravské zemské hranice, jež ztratila svoji původní funkci na sklonku roku 1948. Hlavním cílem bylo zjistit, zda tato hranice nadále přežívá v myslích místních lidí a zda ji případně tito lidé vnímají odlišně v závislosti na rozdílných charakteristikách (pohlaví, věk, nejvyšší dosažené vzdělání, národnost, délka trvalého pobytu v dané obci, poloha trvalého bydliště vzhledem ke zkoumané hranici). K posouzení percepce česko-moravské hranice posloužilo zejména dotazníkové šetření provedené ve 33 obcích na pomezí okresů Ústí nad Orlicí, Šumperk a Svitavy. Dalším úkolem diplomové práce bylo nastínit vývoj této reliktní hranice a zmapovat její současnou podobu v krajině. Práce se rovněž zabývá tím, jak česko-moravská hranice ovlivňuje socioekonomický vývoj přilehlého území dnes a jaký vliv by na něj mohla mít v budoucnu.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the perception of the relict border on the example of northern part of Czech-Moravian provincial boundary, which lost its original function in the fall of the year 1948. The main aim was to discover whether this boundary still persists in the minds of citizens and to find out whether it is eventually perceived differently by these people according to their distinct characteristics (sex, age, education level, nationality, length of permanent residency in a given municipality, location of permanent residency with regard to the studied border). Mainly a questionnaire survey was used in order to review the perception of Czech-Moravian boundary. It took place in 33 municipalities in the borderland of the districts Ústí nad Orlicí, Šumperk and Svitavy. A further task of this thesis was to outline the development of the studied relict boundary and to map its current appearance. The thesis also deals with the present-day influence of Czech-Moravian boundary on the socioeconomic development of the neighbouring area and with the possible effects in future.
