Use of Mobile Applications for Scanning 2D Codes in Practice

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou dvourozměrných kódů a jejich využitím, jak v každodenním životě, tak v oblasti průmyslu. Teoretická část práce krátce nastiňuje historii dvourozměrných kódů, jejich charakteristiky, principy a různé typy. Dále se zabývá současným využitím těchto kódů v praxi, a to od mainstreamového využití až po průmyslovou oblast. Součástí této části je také rešerše mobilních aplikací pro čtení těchto kódů. Praktická část práce experimentálním způsobem porovnává vybrané mobilní telefony, mobilní aplikace a průmyslové čtečky z pohledu úspěšnosti čtení dvourozměrných kódů. Popisuje chování těchto zařízení a aplikací při provedených experimentech, a udává limity jednotlivých zařízení a aplikací z hlediska schopnosti čtení dvourozměrných kódů. Na základě výsledků experimentů jsou formulována doporučení pro využívání mobilních telefonů či průmyslových čteček při čtení dvourozměrných kódů v praxi.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the field of two-dimensional codes and their uses in every day life, as well as in industry environments. The theoretical part of this thesis outlines the history of two-dimensional codes, their characteristics, principles, and their various types. It also studies the use of these codes in practice, from mainstream use all the way to the industry environment. The end of this part consists of research on mobile applications made to read these codes. The practical part of this thesis uses experiments to compare several mobile phones, applications and professional 2D readers for 2D code scanning. It describes the use of these devices in given experiments, and it provides the limits of these devices in terms of 2D code scanning. The end of the thesis provides a recommendation based on the experiment results.
