Mentoring the career development of a new employee

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá mentoringem v kariérním rozvoji nového zaměstnace. Předpokladem je, že nový zaměstnanec je zároveň mentorovaným zaměstnacem. V práci popisuju mentoring, jako pojem, co je to a kdy tento pojem vznikl. Jsou uvedeny definice mentoringu, formy a fáze mentoringu. Dále jsou v práci popsány role mentora a mentorovaného a jejich vztah, který vzniká při procesu mentoringu. Co se týče procesu mentoringu, jsou v neposlední řadě zmíněny jeho rizika. Nový zaměstnanec na každém novém pracovišti prochází procesem adaptace, který souvisí s mentoringem i kariérním rozvojem. Tudíž proces adaptace je zde také stručně zmíněn. V práci je dále pospána kariéra a pohled na ní z historického i současného hlediska. Také kariérový rozvoj, jenž se skládá z kariérového řízení a kariérového plánování. Cílem kvalitativního výzkumu bylo odhalit rozdílnost pohledu na mentoring v kariérním rozvoji nového zaměstnance a to jak z pohledu mentorova, tak z pohledu mentorovaného.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with mentoring the career development of the new employee. The assumption is that a new employee is also an employee of the mentor. The paper describes mentoring as a concept, what it is and from where the term originated. There are definitions of mentoring, forms and phases of mentoring. The thesis describes the role of the mentor and mentee and their relationship that arises in the process of mentoring. The risks of the mentoring process are also mentioned. A new employee at every new workplace goes through a process of adaptation related to mentoring and career development, therefore the adaptation process is mentioned also briefly here. The work also describes careers and look at them from a historical and contemporary perspective. The paper also describes career development, consisting of career management and career planning. The aim of the qualitative research was to reveal the diversity of views on mentoring in the career development of new employee, from the point of view of the mentor and the mentee.
