Abstract:

Obraz Romů v televizním zpravodajství – případ mediální konstrukce reality Výzkum analyzuje hlavní zpravodajské relace České televize - Události a komerční stanice Nova - Televizní noviny odvysílané v kalendářním roce 2000. Vychází z teorie mediální konstrukce reality, kulturálního pojetí reprezentace a navazuje na šetření zaměřená na prezentaci etnických menšin a Romů v evropských i českých médiích. Pomocí obsahové analýzy autorka zmapovala sdělení s romskou tematikou, identifikovala zpravodajské hodnoty, které odvysílané zprávy odrážejí, a analyzovala citované informační zdroje. V kvalitativní části se zaměřila na tematické rámce, do kterých novináři zprávy o Romech ukotvují. Podrobně analyzuje jednotlivá sdělení zařazaná do pěti základních tematických rámců: kriminalita, migrace, sociálníproblematika, kultura a historie a diskuse o rasismu. Výzkum se soustřeďuje na obecné rysy prezentace zkoumané menšiny, upozorňuje na znaky zpravodajství (fragmentarizace, dramatizace, bulvarizace) o této tematice i na nevhodně zvolené jazykové výrazy a odvysílané obrazy, které akcentují stereotypy spojené s Romy ve vědomí majority. Autorka ukazuje, že řada publikovaných sdělení má charakter příběhu o Nás a o Nich a na rovině latentního významu vykazuje tzv. nový rasismus definovaný van Dijkem. Upozorňuje, že způsob reprezentace romské menšiny v majoritních médiích může přispívat k sociálnímu vylučování Romů z main streamové společnosti, neboť zdůrazňuje jejich jinakost.

Images of Roma People in TV News – Case of Media Construction of Reality The reserach analyses main nation-wide television news services Události of the television of public service Czech televizion and Televizní noviny of commercial channel Nova, issued in the year 2000. It is based on the theory of media construction of reality, on understanding of representation of cultural studies and connects to researches of media presentation of ethnic minorities and Roma population in European and Czech media. Author carried out the content analysis of news, analysed messages with Roma topic, identified news values in presented news and quoted information sources. In qualitative part of the research she focused on the thematic framing of the news and she identified five main thematic frames: criminality, migration, social problematics, culture and history, and discussion on racism. She also analysed particular messages in detail. The research focuses on general patterns of representation of Roma minority, it indicates the features of the news report (dramatisation, fragmentarisation and infotainment) about these topics, and also the unsuitably chosen language expressions and presented images accentuating Roma stereotypes in the consciousness of majority. Author shows that many of presented news has a character of a story about Us and Them, and on the level of the latent meaning they show so called new racism defined by van Dijk. She points out that the representation of Roma minority in majoritiy media can contribute to social exclusion of Roma people out of mainstream society, because it stresses their otherness.
