Abstract:

Bakalářská práce stručně informuje o způsobu života Keltů. Kromě toho také popisuje rozdíly i společné rysy keltské a římské kultury, jak z pohledu náboženského, tak z pohledu společenského. Zaměřuje se i na jednotlivé výpravy římských vládců do Británie, jejich cíle a výsledky, a zaznamenává postupné šíření vlivu římské kultury na ostrovech. Nedílnou součástí práce je zachycení střetu keltského obyvatelstva s římskými legiemi, například v podobě krvavého povstání královny Boudicy. Nechybí ani přehled důvodů, které vedly k postupnému úpadku římské moci. K vypracování práce byly použity převážně tištěné zdroje, z nichž mnoho odkazuje na poznatky klasických autorů, kteří poskytli významné informace o Keltech.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis briefly informs about the way of life of the Celts. Furthermore, it describes differences and common features of the Celtic and Roman culture, both from the religious and social perspective. It also focuses on individual expeditions of the Roman emperors to Britain, their aims and results and it captures the gradual spread of the Roman culture on the Isles. Inseparable part of the thesis is capturing of a clash between the Celtic population and the Roman legions, for example in the form of a bloody uprising of the queen Boudicca. Moreover, it depicts reasons which led to the gradual fall of the Roman power in Britain. To assemble the thesis, printed sources were mainly used, out of which many refer to knowledge of classical authors who provided significant information about the Celts.
