Traits of Heroism in Aragorn in The Lord of Rings

Abstract:

This thesis is concerned about heroic traits of the character of Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings. The main purpose of this thesis is to provide necessary information about this character and real-world counterparts to determine his heroic traits and heroic type. With the intention of providing information about myths and its significance, this thesis also adds important facts about overall purpose of myths and also characters in them, thereby adding the significance to their roles. By means of direct comparison of texts and symbolic interpretation the conclusion was drawn stating that Aragorn is to be considered a messianic hero with connections to King Arthur and Jesus Christ.

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá hrdinskými vlastnostmi postavy Aragorna z Pána Prstenů. Hlavním účelem této práce je poskytnout nezbytné informace o tomto charakteru a skutečných světových protějšcích, aby bylo možné určit jeho hrdinské vlastnosti a hrdinský typ. S úmyslem poskytnout informace o mýtech a jejich významu tato práce také přidává důležité skutečnosti o celkovém účelu mýtů a také o postavách v nich, čímž přidává význam jejich rolím. Prostřednictvím přímého srovnání textů a symbolické interpretace byl učiněn závěr, že Aragorn by mohl být považován za mesiášského hrdinu s propojením s králem Arturem a Ježíšem Kristem.
