Abstract:

Tato práce porovnává druhý nejstarší anglicko-český slovník od Václava Emanuela Mourka z roku 1879 s jeho předlohou od Johna Walkera z roku 1823. Zabývá se jak podobnými, tak odlišnými rysy v mikro a makrostrukturách těchto slovníků. Důležitou součástí této práce je také srovnání Mourkova slovníku s prvním anglicko-českým a česko-anglickým slovníkem Karla Jonáše z roku 1876. Tato práce konečně také obsahuje tabulku, která shrnuje, které česko-anglické a anglicko-české dvojjazyčné překladové slovníky jsou dosud k dispozici v knihovnách České republiky (tato tabulka je jak fyzicky v práci samotné, tak iv elektronické verzi na přiloženém CD a v elektronickém archívu práce).

Abstract:

This thesis compares the second oldest English-Czech dictionary by Václav Emanuel Mourek from 1879 with its model dictionary by John Walker (1823). It discusses both the similarities and differences of these two dictionaries comparing they macro and microstructure and also comparison of Mourek’s dictionary with the first English-Czech and Czech-English dictionary by Karel Jonáš’s from 1876 is an important part of this thesis. Finally, in this thesis is also included a table summarizing which Czech-English and English-Czech general bilingual dictionaries are still available in the libraries of the Czech Republic (this table is both physically in the thesis itself as well as in an electronic version on attached CD and in the thesis archive).
