The Clash of Japanese and European Arts after the Reopening of Japan

Abstract:

The thesis is focussing on visual arts and its mutual changes, specifically on those between Japan and Europe since the half of the 19 Century until 1918. It comprises concretely Japanese art situation of the Edo period and the persisting influences of the West, the Meiji period and its changes in art. There are also described first opinions on the Japanese art in Europe, especially art styles and authors, which were by this style influenced. These influences and changes are proved on graphic illustrations. The situation of Czech visual art and its most important figures and the examples of their artwork are also described. The main objective of this thesis is to prove the mutual significant influence of the European art on the Japanese art and vice versa.

Abstract:

Práca je zameraná na výtvarné umenie a jeho vzájomné zmeny, a to konkrétne medzi Japonskom a Európou od polovice 19. storočia po rok 1918. Obsiahnuté sú konkrétne japonská umelecká situácia obdobia Edo a pretrvávajúce vplyvy zo západu, obdobie Meidži a jeho zmeny v umení. V práci sú popísané prvé názory na japonské umenie v Európe, konkrétne umelecké smery a autori, ktorí boli týmto smerom ovplyvnení, na názorných ukážkach sú tieto zmeny a vplyvy preukázané. Vykreslená je aj situácia v českom výtvarnom umení, najvýznamnejšie osobnosti a príklady ich diel. Cieľom práce je snaha preukázať vzájomný významný vplyv európskeho umenia na japonské a japonského na európske.
