Phishing detection using honeypots

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je věnována problematice detekce phishingu v elektronické poště. Jsou v ní diskutovány jeho různé formy a nebezpečnost. Dále jsou popsány známé techniky pro detekování phishingových e-mailů a analyzovány možnosti využití síťových pastí pro tento účel. Na základě prezentovaných poznatků je navržena kombinovaná technika detekce phishingu, která je implementována jako rozšiřující modul existující síťové pasti SHIVA. Výsledná implementace je testována na e-mailech z anotovaných datových sad i na reálném provozu v prostředí Kybernetického polygonu.

Abstract:

This thesis is devoted to issue of phishing detection in electronic mail. Various forms and dangerousness of phishing are discussed. Additionally are described known phishing detection techniques in e-mails and possibilities of honeypot usage in this area are analyzed. Based on the presented findings is designed combined phishing detection technique, which is implemented as a module of existing honeypot SHIVA. Final implementation is tested on e-mails from annotated datasets and real traffic in environment of Cybernetic polygon.
